Default Investing in new quad, help plz :-)

Ok, Im interested in buyin a new quad, bcus my old one is a bit too small for me now. I wuz tryin to decide between these: 08 Raptor 700, 08 KFX450, 07 Pred. , 08 TRX450 (w/ elec.), 08 YFZ450, or should i wait to see wut the DS450 brings. I will b using the new quad for strictly trail riding, i will howevr hav to be able to keep up with a DS650,other Predators, other YFZs, and LTRs, cuz thats wut other peeps in my family hav. Plz help me decide which is the best choice for me. Thanx.

btw, im 17, and hav had at least 7-8 years of exp. , I am 5'9", weigh about 170lbs, and currently own a Mojave 250(which isnt enough nemore, lol)

Also is the upgraded suspension on the 08' Raptor worth the $200 dif. from the 07' ?

if those are the only quads you're considering, then maybe the 700 Raptor, might also consider a Suzuki 400. Have you tried a Renegade?

the raptor does sound nice to me right now, and for the Z400, im all set, ive ridden my uncle's and its not that big of a leap from my mojave, and i'll end up gettin bored wit that in a couple years as i did wit the mojave. As for the renegade, i dont want the full auto, and for $8000+, i dont think so, thanx for the input though.

well i had a 660 Raptor and wasn't sure I could be happy with an automatic or a four wheel drive. I have to tell you, I wouldn't ride a 700 Raptor if I have a Renegade to ride. It's more exhilarting to ride than a Raptor, while it may not be as nimble, (heavier) you won't get stuck, and you don't have to let of the gas to shift up or down, your always in the right gear all the time. I just feel sorry for people who have to ride behind me. No other ATV out there that can produce that kind of power stock. For the extra 1500. more than a 700 Raptor you get 4wd, never have to worry about oiling a chain again, lots more power, never have to worry about getting stuck, and you don't get quite as muddy. Almost but not quite. Don't get me wrong, I almost traded my 03 Raptor for a 700, but then I saw the Renegade and after getting it, I wasn't disappointed.

Like I said i didn't think I would be comfortable with them either, but now that I've experienced all the benefits of having an auto like missing having to shift up and down all the time I was happy I did from the first ride. I didn't hear the power was all that much more on a 700, it is only 40cc after all. I have heard that is handles better, i.e. wider and lower center of gravity. if I lived out West in the desert where it is drier and much more wide open I would probably prefer a two wheel drive. I thought I'd miss the pop you get from ripping through the gears on my Renegade but truth is, it's so powerful, it's just as exhilarating. Anyway, if I were to get a new two wheel drive sport machine, I might wait to see how the DS450 compares before buying a 700 Raptor. It's a tough call though, a new 700 Raptor would be nice, as I mentioned I almost went that route myself. Almost.

the 700 Raptor may be a better all around user friendly machine than a DS450. Plus it has Reverse

yea most likely, but reverse isnt too big of a deal wit me, i mean wit the lightness of a 450, i could jus pick it up and move it if i needed to, lol
im sure the raptor is a much more comfortable ride too

The 700 Raptor was Dirt Wheel Magazines editors choice for trail riding in a recent article. I had a 660 Raptor and it was great in the trails. You definitely want reverse if you're going to ride the trails and the 700, or actually 686, Raptor is pretty awesome.
