So my mind is about 90% made up on what I will be buying for my first ever ATV. The Polaris 700 X2 is what I'm leaning towards. The only other machine I have looked at is the Can AM 650 XT. I live in Canada and can get the 2008 Polaris Sportsman 700 X2 for $9800 after taxes with a 2500 lbs winch installed. My local Can AM dealer wants $10,995 plus taxes for the 650 XT totaling $12644,25. The can am deal comes with a 3 year warranty where the Polaris only 6 months. I can upgrade the Polaris warranty to 3 years for around a $1000 dollars give or take. Firstly should I upgrade the Polaris warranty if that is the route I take and secondly is the Can am really worth paying the extra $1500 - $2000???

 

First off, Canadian prices SUCK! Especially when you'd think that a Canadian made product would be a little cheaper in it's own country. Here in the US a 650 XT Max would run about $9,800.

The only other consideration for the price difference would be the value of the XT package. It's a great deal - but only if you wanted those options anyway. Since the Polaris is priced with a winch, it sounds like the 700 will be the better deal. For the extra two grand, you should be able to get not only the extended warrantee, but better aftermarket tires as well.

Your right Hemi. I was a little bit confused but my mind is now made up after going to see both machines last night. I can't justify paying the extra 2 g's for the OUtty.. Jaybeecon you are right in that Canadian prices do suck. Were getting hosed up here. Polaris it is and thanks for the input.
