You will have no problems with overheating, Some guys are running WATER WETTER, and removing the cooling fan.
I run my machines year round. Your only worry would be if you had degree blocking the Radiator (MUD,SNOW )not allowing the system to cool. We had them at Silver Lake Dunes and rode all day in 90 Degree weather. I have heard a few guys have had Water pump seal failure but I have not had that problem.

You will have NO PROBLEMS keeping up with most STOCK TRUE SPORTS at the dunes. You will keep pace with anything 400EX and down ( It will dust 300EX, Warrior, or BLASTER) . No, it won't be as fast as a DS650, or Raptor.
The Scrambler is going to do everything you want it to do.
Fact is About $500.00 in Mods to a 400 and you will hold pace with Raptors and DS.
I am not necessarily saying you will be faster, but they will not run away from you by any means.

 

You mod up a 400 and their wont be much that will keep up with you the suspention is a draw back though get a 2000 or newer the have bearings instead of bushings for the steering stem which makes it more pleasurable to ride I have never run into over heating problems with mine unless your realy going slow go to hotseats web site to look at some sweet mods
