Take it from a Rubicon owner... The Kodiak 450 is one awesome machine. I went to the dealer's to buy one once my darling wife told me it was OK to do so.. and I had every intention to buy the Kodiak... but just as I walked in the front door, this yellow Rubicon was screaming at me to come take a look. Damn, there went all that time spent researching and comparing, and praying to God to convince my wife that I just had to have a new 4x4 machine... Well, the kicker other than the color, was the fact that Honda was offering a deal that took $1200 off of retail... I was hooked.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my Honda Rubicon... but every day since then, I sure do a what if over the choice. I still want the Kodiak...
Sounds like you have done some comparison... with your inlaws owning a shop, go ride them both... I doubt there will be any comparison. My Honda will out work the Kodiak no doubt... when you talk heavy stuff... but the stuff you are wanting to do should fit the Kodiak just fine...

My advice... get er done... and go riding instead of just talking about it...
