Default Best exhaust w/o internal mods?

What is the best way to go, I have an 03 stock baja, andI am not going to do internal mods, but going to add air filter, rejet, and maybe cdi/rev box. I just want to get rid of the flat spot in the power curve at about 3000rpm and add a little power. I like a nice sounding exhaust, but don't want one that gets annoying after five minutes! Full system or just a slip on? Also would like one that is forrestry approved but not manditory.

The choices are the following:

1) Big Gun (USFS Approved, removeable quiet core)
2) Ron Wood Racing (Loud but good, Spart arrestor optional)
3) HMF Slip-on (not much horsepower gain, but sounds better)
4) Mr Horsepower end cap (cheap, loud and not USFS Approved)
5) Yoshimura Slip On (expensive, nice sounding, not much horsepower gain)
6) MBRP (pretty and will last forever - less power than stock)

Did I miss any?

I was looking at the big gun, but there has been all kinds of negative opinons about them, I talked to the factory and they said they have redesigned the system. I got a quote of $450 installed with the jetting done also, hard to pass up! I was also looking at the fmf, hmf, and the wb slip on's. A little cheaper than the big gun full system.

Yes, I too have seen the negative press. Big Gun claims the problems are now ancient history. This pipe has always produced excellent low end power. If you get it, you should let us know how it works out for you.

If your thinking of a slip-on exhaust then Mr. HP billet endcap will out perform all of the slip-ons currently on the market. and it is about half the price. You will only gain 1 maybe 2 peak hP through a FULL system on a stock machine.

My advice would be to buy the endcap, and with the money you saved, you can put it towards an aftermarket carb. I do not think you really need a CDI, you just need to gear up a tad and/or get some taller rear tires .

I like the idea of the modified end cap, but I hear that they are kind of loud, there is no spark arrestor and they weigh alot compared to aftermarket slip ons. How do you repack modified end caps, the stock system is already (only about 5 or 6hrs) blowing out the fiberglass .

The stock exhaust does weigh more than any aftermarket slip-on. but the modified endcap dont ADD wieght, if anything i'm sure it saves a couple pounds. To install the endcap it is as simple as taking the four screws out of your current endcap/spark arrestor and swapping the two out. Your stock packing and baffle will remain, the endcap will use the same seal.

the modified endcap is no louder than any other slip-on, unless you want one with a spark arrester, but then you will sacrofice power.

If noise will be any issue at differnt times I would recomend a pipe w/ disk style sparky. that way you can take them out to hush it up or take them completly off.
White Bros. E-series- slip on only
alba
Ct
ron wood w/ adapter
And I think gradon has a that option

I got one custom to the stock muffler and love it if theres a noise issue I just remove the disks and its a spark arrestor.
