Default question on rear swingarm

i would like to install a -1 swing arm, but they are expensive. is it possible to use a 2004 swing arm on my 2001? there is a +2 on ebay right now for 350, what would anythink of getting that swingarm and cutting it down and re welding it to -1? would the shock mount be affected if i removed 3" from the front of the swingarm? i am very confident that i could cut and reweld while maintaing everything square

A 2004 stock swingarm may fit and be your best and easiest option. With that you will have to resize your chain. You may find someone on the forum that is willing to part with their stock swingarm as they upgrade to a custom one. Good luck. (I love my 04 and the shorter swingarm is part of that) It handles great.

Default question on rear swingarm

I've got a buddy that just bought an X. He is out of town right now but, he only rides the sand. I could see if there is any interest in a trade.

To convert it to an 04 you will need swingarm, cut chain, new brake line, lower shock spacers, lower shock bolt, & rear caliper mount from carrier.

Also, see tvipowerandsports.com. Click on DS Works and look at their swingarms. Nice. Lighter than the O4 Baja stock swingarm. I think Gary can do a jig for the stock length. They look sweet polished. Phone during business hours (503)648-1254. He's good people.

The shock is the same length. I was worried about that when I did my conversion but it is the same.

they are now 425,,a few weeks ago they were 399, I think they lowered the price untill they sold a few, it looks like they have a 3 rating, so they have sold 3 of them,,all the feedback is good..did you check on the price of a new 04 swing arm?
