Saint, how close are you to New Hampshire?

There is a correction factor in every dyno called inertia calculator . This one factor has almost as much effect on the output numbers as the drive ratio input. It can change the numbers on a stock machine as much as 10 hp if off by a slight bit. On high end dyno's, this number can be input by the operator depending on whether he is dynoing a 200cc 2 stroke or a 650cc 4 stroke. On dyno's that are preset from the factory, they simply ask the new owner "what do you plan to dyno the most?" and that is what everyone gets dyno'ed at.
I will give you an example on a stock DS650 on a given roller weight. A true 45 hp machine will show 55hp if the dyno is set for 1000cc twin cylinder Harley's. It will show 42hp if set for a 250cc single 2 cycle. And it will show 38hp if originally setup for carts - these numbers are only for a given drum weight, they will change drastically on different drums.
Second, if the drive ratio is off by just one tenth +or-, the numbers will vary from 38hp to 45hp to 55hp.

Hope this helps you understand the wide variation you see on a few dyno's.

MY MAIN CONCERN IS NOT THE ACTUALL NUMBERS. SINCE I AM NOT REALL FAMILIAR WITH THE LECTRON I FIGURED I WOULD BE BETTER OFF TAKING IT TO THE DYNO TO GET IT DIALED IN. I AM LOOKING FOR INSTANT THROTTLE RESPONSE AND TO BE ABLE TO LIFT THE FRONT END WITH A BLIP OF THE THROTTLE. BUT I DO NOT WANT TO START TWISTING THINGS ON A CARB THAT I AM NOT FIMALIAR WITH. IT SEEMS PRETTY SIMPLE BUT AGAIN I HAVE NEVER ATEMPTED TO DIAL IN A LECTRON. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR AND WHAT TO ADJUST TO CHANGE. LIKE IF I HAVE A LOW END BOG WHAT WOULD I HAVE TO ADJUST TO HELP CURE IT. IF IT SEEMS NOT TO PULL REALL GOOD IN THE MIDRANGE WHAT WOULD I ADJUST?

I AM GOING TO PICK UP MY DS FROM THE DYNO TOMMOROW. THEY STILL HAVE NOT RAN IT ON THE DYNO. I CALLED ANOTHER PLACE IN GRAND ISLAND CALLED HOT TO GO RACING. THE GUY I TALKED TO WAS VERY COOL. HE SET ME UP AN APOINTMENT FOR SATURDAY. SAID HE'LL DO IT RIGHT THEN NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES. ALSO THEY ARE HALF THE PRICE OF THE SHOP IT IS AT NOW. HE IS 50 AN HOUR. ALSO THEY SELL LECTRON CARBS, SO HE IS VERY FIMILAIR WITH THEM. SOUNDS LIKE THIS WILL WORK OUT A LOT BETTER FOR ME.
