Roost,
Let me give my 2 cents on the TM45, I got mine used. I took the firmer throttle return spring off and put the softer spring in but first I twisted it to make it stiffer. the pull is great not stiff. I use the acc. pump with a short duration. I love it lots of power over stock. I ported my intake at the same time also. The intake boot between the carb and intake I shaved the lip out so the carb sits flush aganst the intake. I use stock thumb throttle and the aftermarket cable. you can use the stock cable w/ a little mod. I run air box no lid tubes off. Idels great, starts great, runs great. the only thing I need to do is adjust my floats, it likes to leek when I do wheelies.
No matter what you buy us guys will help you with any jetting you need. cost for cost the TM is a good buy. you do get great service w/ the Lectron but at a cost.
I wish they made a FCR 44-45-46 to put on the DS. just a thought.
If you have any more questions just ask

i just picked up a used 2000 ds. it already had a graydon pipe and ignition. the very first thing i did was throw away the stock carb and install a new 45 mikuni w/direct mount filter. cut back the main spring for soft thumb throttle, and rode it for the first time WOW!! this thing runs great. my 760 will be sitting around most the summer now. p.s. i did not touch the tune the new carb, just mounted it, cut the spring back and let drive!!!
