I sprayed down the carb in all of the cracks and crevices ,but like you I am no carb expert. I will give it another can of Berrymans to see if it helps.
I am leaning towards the float a little. With it acting like it isn't getting enough gas and the change in rev if it is inclined. Also, I did not replace the spark plugs.... I just cleaned them. But it fires on first crack, then dies.
As for the batter... it is weak. Notice it is missing the "Y" ;-) To solve that problem I hook up my cars jumpers and it turns over like mad and the volt gage on the dash is near 14.
As they say one more time for the Gipper then to the shop it goes.
What is the easiest way to check your float. I have a manual ,but it is all greek to me. Use tool 1234ab and measure from a-z with tool 543brgt. What?
Also, what makes it run richer on the fuel screw ... in or out? Right now I am out 3.

I like your quote.... screaming and bloody.
I just checked with the dealer and he wanted $125 for the carb cleaning ....WHAT THE @#$% IS HE THINKING. This is a single carb and easy to get to.
As for the valve job they wanted $180 ... Damn are they @#$% nuts. The word on the street is $150
I will give the carb another bath tonight to see if that frees things up.

found a dealer in Mckinney that will do a valve job and carb cleaning for $125.
forget that over priced Yami shop in Richardson.
This guy said he could do both in 1 1/2 hours and he charges $65 an hour. The Yami shop probably charges by book hours. Jerks

hOLY mCsHnIZZLE !! Man I thought service here was pricey !!! But then again you did say the "D" work .......D E A L E R !!!!!
Is there any repuatble(SP) shops you can take it too??
Another thing thats VERY important ..... Be carefull about using aftermarket cleaners on the quad carbs. The seals and gaskets can be eaten away by SOME cleanears. A call to a local shop or, god help me .. The dealer.. to see what they recomend for the guys in the shop.
