Is it only a good polishing?
What's involved in porting the intake manifold? Can I just go in with a small drummel tool and polish the intake or is there material removed in specific areas that improve flow?

Do a search for either the TM45 or ported intake. There are some back threads with some really good info. I know the bump on the inside on the top is a problem. If you grind too much, you go into the threads of the top mounting bolt. You'll go crazy reading which is better, smooth or coarse finish. Should give you 4 more hp, if done correctly.

I did one of my own, I tought it was fairly simple just time consuming. While looking down the intake you wil see a hump in the top center, right where it seperates into two, that is the hump everyone is talking about look at the outside of the intake you can see what causes this and it will give you a pretty good idea of just how much material you can remove. Do not touch the openings on the exit of the intake they are already matched with the head. I went ahead and bored out the opening of the intake to match my carb. I didnt polish the intake tracks because there are far more people on here that will tell you not to.
As far as power increase I really could'nt tell you because I did a lot of other things at the same time. One more quick tip I learned was to drill out the bolt holes on the intake just a little bit so when you bolt it back up you can perfectly line up your intake to the head.
