Default Front springs - to paint or not to paint is the ?

Has anyone painted or powder coated their front shock coil spring? If you did, did it hold up? Is chroming them an option? I need to redo (paint) the stock yellow front spring & need options. I want something other than shock wears.

Yes, you can re-powdecoat the coils. Do NOT chrome them, it will crack off. If you powder coater knows what they are doing, they can do them so they will hold up as well as stock. The trick, from my understanding, to doing coils is this, they put a thinner coat on them, but bake them longer in the oven than normal.

my .02 cents,

Gary

I have seen them powdercoated and chromed and I personally like the chrome better. But be sure and have a prominent chromer do the work who will use top notch material. JMO.

A friend of mine had his springs powder coated and they still look great after a whole season in the sand. I was skeptical that it would hold up, but I have to admit they still look good. I guess time will tell.

Thanks for the replies! I really want them chromed but have only seen short travel shocks chromed & not long travel shocks. So it sounds like I will go with powder coating unless I hear from someone that has had their DS shocks chromed & it worked/lasted.
