starter relay

Default starter relay

i just purchased an '03 quest 650. i had some trouble getting it started and in doing so i believe i burnt up my starter relay. it began to smoke a little and then just began clicking. i tried jumping the relay and it would turn over one or two cranks and then began to smoke.just looking to make sure it isn't something else

Default starter relay

Its been a few years since I did one of these and I'd have to double check, but I believe there is a starter relay update for your machine. The update replaces the relay, cables from relay to starter and relay to battery, and adds some sort of black plastic thing w/ a wire coming out of it that attaches to the relay. This was one of the many updates and part failures on the Quest models. I'll try and find some info and get back to you.

Default starter relay

thanks a lot that would be great. i am also having a problem with oil on the plug. i take the plug out and clean it and it will fire up for a few seconds, but doesn't sound right and then it stalls. i take the plug out and there seems to be oil on it again.
