I always get a kick out of your posts and enjoy your perspective. Do you know Reno here in Grand Junction?

Try the up dated HD springs. My outty has 5400miles and it's only had a few little problems and if they made a 1200 I would buy it.

I had the 800 max. I put 1700 mi with no problems what so ever. I now ride the renegade and have over 600 mi on it with the same results. In my opinion best 4x4 made so far. I would like to see them put the motor thats in the spyder in the renegade, boy that would be a potent machine.

if i was going to buy another outlander I would make sure its a MAX XT. The up-seat is soo damn comfortable with a passenger. Plus i think it rides better with a lil extra weight ( the up-seat is directly above the rear tires, giving it a lil more weight for going threw mud or hauling) plus you can take the seat off when you have no passenger.

I have the 05 Outy 400 Max XT, and just love it. Plenty of power, very stable, a lovely soft ride for the passenger, and I never get stuck unless I'm high-centred. I would never pay more for a bigger one, as I do not race and I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere.
Having read through this thread, I thank you guys for mentioning the suspension upgrades to get more clearance - I might just do that, because our cottage trails are pretty rough.
We did have a problem with the voltage regulator overheating (fixed no problem by the dealer - an updated one was installed farther away from the engine so it would not overheat), and the speedo guage fogging up (replaced no problem by a dealer).
Also, the dealers here are friendly and helpful, and give good deals!
