Default Vortex Problems

My Vortex has always made a humming sound whenever the ignition is on. I just figured it was normal. Sounds very similar to a set of low frequency switching capacitors and can be heard within a few feet of the unit.

Are you guys saying this is NOT normal and it should not be making any type of sound? The unit has never given my any problems, but I am probably going to check out the ground on it.

ERBE,
Where was your ground problem located? I moved my Vortex over to my other DS that I was running the stock CDI but it still humms. I either have two DS's with ground problems or just a noisy Vortex.

I had to move the ground from the subframe to the main frame, made a new ground strap.

Where on your subframe was your ground strap originally? On my 04's the factory ground strap is just above the chain roller on the peice of flat metal that is welded to the shock mount. So technically its not on the subframe
