Clif-

I never mind anyone asking! I'd much rather answer your question than have someone wonder what the heck it is that I'm talking about.

An EFI DS650 would be a DS650 with Electronic Fuel Injection (Much like the Cannondale FX400 will have) instead of a carburetor. A carburetor is very old technology, and I do not believe any Automobiles were made after 1995-ish with a carburetor. I think it's time that the Motorcycle manufacturers step up to the plate, ditch this old technology and start using EFI. I'd even venture to say that EFI is 90's technology, and it's now the 00's - but we're still using technology invented in a time period I'd assume prior to the first automobile though the revisions are what I'd assume to be 80's technology.) I'm sure there are many 'special' applications where a carburetor is better than EFI, but by and large in applications such as ATVs I believe it will provide better running machines that don't need to be jetted and operate more efficiently/cleanly.

I believe that you are incorrect on your HP assumptions. The CR makes a few less ponies than the KX500. The 380 is not in their league, although it handles a little better when you get parts to keep them running.

its too bad they dont make a 125 quad! the cr125 makes about 35 hp stock! get the cr250 engine and you only add 10 hp from doubling the displacement! the 125's are extreamly efficiant little buggers!

The KX500 makes 54 rwhp the CR500 makes 55 rwhp and the KTM SX380 makes 49.6 rwhp.
