Default Rear bearing bad?

Okay went out for a ride and decided to change my rear tires. I picked up on the axle and noticed that it had some play(one will would go up while the other went down. It pretty much wobbled back and forth. Do I need a new carrier or can I just tighten it up?

If it is wobbling and it is tight then your bearings and seals will be shot and need to be replaced. If it is loose then tighten it up until you loose the wobble and see how it feels as far as the bearings go just make sure that they are not binding up or grinding. Most likely the seals are shot becouse of the wobbling. I would plan on replacing bearings and seals to make sure everything is good.

Yep, for sure, if your carrier bolts are a little loose it will wiggle all over, but if they're tight you need new bearings. Simple as that. Good luck!
