To aceisback, they are advertised at that rate by private seller...not a dealer. From what I've been reading, it seems most of you have the luxury of having many different DS650's to choose from. You say you see them all the time going for only $1500 or so. I would love to find a DS for that cheap. Up here in Montana, it's almost as if they're a rare item and people sell them for more than they're worth. I wish I wasn't so limited to how far I can go to get one. I mean, I'd feel like a jackass knowing I paid almost $4000 for one when I could've got that same one for half the price somewhere else. I guess thats just how the world works though, isn't it?

Thanks for the ads, but I've seen most of those already lol. My point is that these are more expensive compared to the ones everyone else is talking about. There is one that you posted that is a 2000 DS650 for $3000. I've found a 2006 DS650 baja for $3995. I could probably talk him down to $3500. Is getting a 2000 for $3000 worth it when I could get a model 5 years younger for only $500 more?

Nope, 2000's should be going for no more than $2500. I wouldn't pay a penny more unless it was a built 730 or something similar.

Don't be ashamed to offer less than asking price. YOU might be the type of person to ask the price that you actually want for your stuff for sale, but most people build anywhere from 10 -50% into their initial asking price.

The 2000 that you see is probably available to you for 2,000 or even less, but not over the phone, you have to be standing in front of him with cash in your hand. I know when I am selling something and people call me and are trying to negotiate down over the phone, I don't waste my time on em, I tell them to come see if they even like it first, then make your offer, in cash, on the spot.

Look at what they go for on ebay, that will give you the actual value.

So your saying someone that has a well built well taken care of 2000 with a newer engine and with a lot of motor work that was built with the right stuff shouldn't be able to get a little more for their bike? If you had to sell yours but could wait for the right buyer how much would you sell yours for? Just curious Jon.

As I said I wouldn't pay more "unless it was a built 730 or something similar". Yours is a fully built stock bore, and I would pay around $3500 for yours. I would probably ask around $2500 for mine but that would be stripped down to stock parts. If I kept mine how it is now, I'd sell it for around $3200. But I won't be selling for a long time so I don't need to worry about prices.
