Default Ds 250 only runs on choke????

I have a 2008 ds 250 that has been running like crap. I have taken the carb apart several times and it seems to run ok for a little bit but then same crap. only runs on choke, take it off and it spits and sputters. Anybody know what is wrong. Did I miss somthing in the carb.

Sounds like the Pilot jet is clogged.

Sounds like you may have water in the gas tank. If you have cleaned your carb out really well and it runs good for a short while afterwards than I doubt there is anything lodged in the pilot. Try dumping out your gas in the tank (remember to properly dispose of your old gas from both the tank and your can) and let it dry out than get new gas. You could also try adding some anti-water agent into your gas tank if you don't want to wait for it to dry out completely. You can pick this up at any automotive store. It basically bonds to the water making it combustable so it runs through the engine without causing problems.

Also, FYI, the new gasolines that contain 10% ethanol will coagulate with age when water is present so it is best to use it up as you get it or try to buy gas without ethanol. The only place I know of that sell it without ethanol is CFN, and you need a special card for that.

Hope this helps.

If the above suggestions don't get you going, replace both jets with brand new ones. I had your same issue on a Polaris Trail Boss 250. I cleaned the carb completely out several times, had to run with the choke on and had no real power. On a whim, I replaced both jets (Pilot and main) with the same size jets from my dealer and it cured my problem immediately.

It seemed odd because I had sprayed carb cleaner through both jets several times, to no avail.

it seems like it is either getting too much air or not enough gas. the jets have been cleaned.

I'm going to drain all the gas. Now that I think about it the problem seemed to start after the one time i left it outside in the rain without the cover on.

Still add some Isopropyl dry-gas to the next tank of fuel to get rid of ALL the moisture. Also, drain the carb via the screw at the bottom of the float bowl...
