The hot new ride in the entry level class is the new Suzuki Ozark, and they are supposed to be coming out with a sport version to go up against the 250EX. Everything Suzuki is coming out with is aimed right at Honda.
The Rally looks pretty cool, but no real reports in yet. The Ozark is a winner, no doubt.

I agree that the Suzuki Ozark is the machine to get now in the entry level class. I have seen a Rally in person and it was downright ugly. The racks are integrated into the plastic and damn they're ugly! I have heard good things about the engine in the Rally being quite powerful for its size. But just like the rest of Bombardier's utility quads, it is butt ugly! On the other hand, my dealer would sell me a Rally for $2800.

The rally is not the machine to get. Eventhough the price is right, the Ozark provides a much better overall package. But I do think the rally would beat the 220 Bayou in a race.

LOL@Tupperware!! What happened to the step through design? I thought Bombardier was targeting the girls bicycle segment of the ute market?

Bayou3004x4,

Now that the Rally has been out for a month, I would bet most of the magazine will have full reviews of it.

As I posted on another forum, if you like it and it does what you want - go for it.

Cheers,

Don't know if my 31 year old opinion will help but...I test drove one the other day and was somewhat impressed. It has surprising power for such a little motor, 176cc 4stroke auto that will spin the tires (albeit in straight-line gravel) -- I was surprised. The only gripe about the engine/clutch is that they had to set the clutch engagement way high so at first it seemed that it wasn't going to grab at all. This also made engine noise pretty high. I purposely stopped on a steep incline and tried to restart, but it didn't have the heuvos. Had to roll back down to level to restart. The engine braking works awesome though. Its been a long time since I rode a 220 bayou, but in a drag race the smart money would be on the Rally.

The rear brakes were a little funky, they must be a mechanical disk (don't remember from literature) as the break pedal hardly felt like it moved when you stepped on it. I seemed to work ok but felt weird after being used to hydraulic disk forever.

Suspension worked quite well as did its handling. The new frame looks like it will definitely hold up very well and is a vision of the future IMO. Maybe they could use this design to "shed those unwanted holiday pounds" off the DS. Thats just what my DS needs.

The racks felt like a super tough colman cooler--like they were two separated layers. They felt like they would be indestructable. I, for one, like the new syling and think it will be a sign of the things to come. Just like new styled cars, it may take a bit to get used to but it is definitely a big step in the right direction. Tupperware..oh man, thats rich.

I would really like to see the rally make it big, and as a lowest of the low price leader, it could. But immediately after riding this, I drove a new Polaris 325 trail boss. The Polaris was better at pretty much everything and at only about 500 bucks more, I would definitely go Polaris. Oh yea, in a drag the Polaris would eat up the bayou and Rally for a snack.
