I went out riding today and after 1/2 hour of normal runing around with some jumping, my front left tire started bouncing around out of controle. I stoped and could find nothing wrong until i grabed the shock and wiggled it. I thought for shure i had snaped the shaft but after i pulled the shock off i pulled the rod out of the tube and found that the piston had actulay come loose and turned itself off. It just litteraly fell apart. Now just a few weeks before my big trip to the black hills i have to find some shocks. I dont want the fanciest most expensive ones out there because i thought the stockers where just fine for my style of riding. Would works be a good choise. Time is of the esence and price. With the trip so close they are going to have to come out of the trip fund, not enough time to save up for them. What do you recomend for shocks and where do i need to look to find them. Again time is of the esence. I leave in 2 weeks. Thanks.

Shame the shock broke, but its allways better to break it when you CAN do something about it, I had to sit out our big ride last year when my ball joint came apart on the first day.. kinda sucked sitting at camp watching dvd's and drinking heavily while cooking large steaks
Just really stress to whoever you buy from you need them right away, no bs!, alot of times they say they have something in stock but its really just being drop shipped from somewhere else so they have no idea wether its in stock or not.. Tell 'em everyone will know if they F' up.

Works Steelers triple-rates are only $369, you can add rezzies later, or get them with rezzies for under $5 bills. Piggyback pros are more money, have thicker rods and adjustable compression (good for dialing-in big landings) I like the 210# mainsprings with 2.8", 240# helpers and the short 1.5" 500# helper. After 6 different spring combos I have tried, this is by far the best for trail riding, sag, jumping, whatever. The 240# helper gives you the sag and the smooth ride. The 500# makes a smooth transition to the mainspring.
..... Order direct from Works. Going through anyone else makes it a lot harder to make changes later. I weigh 210 lbs. I have non-adjustable rezzies, they are just fine. I love these shocks. Adjustable compression rezzies are another hundred and some bucks.
...... I have tried the 175lb mainsprings, way too soft and the 240 lb mains, way too stiff. If you are a big guy and jump big you might like the 240# mainsprings with the pro-piggybacks, for about $800!

I ordered works Steelers today threw my dealer, from parts unlimited. He called them to ask if they had them in stock before ordering. They said i would have them buy the end of the week. I got the ones that where rated for my weight. I hope they are right. I have heard a few people say to get ones rated heavier. I am very glad this did not hapen on the trip because i would have blown a nut. finding parts in the middle of the black hills would not be fun.
Fourlix- Tobad i already ordered threw my dealer. I wasent shure how to go abought ordering straight from works. Is it real hard to have changes made this way.? How much are the springs if I decide I want diferent rates? How do you go abought getting them? Thanks.
