You don't have to remove the snorkles. If you do and don't plug the holes, you'll get more dust & dirt in the airbox.
Some owners have had problems with the seat sucking down on the open airbox.
The hose on the right side is for the crankcase breather.
Guys who remove the snorkles put a small filter on the hose and attach it (zip-tie) to the frame. These small filters are available from AutoZone, Checker Auto, Motorcycle shops, K&N, etc. Same goes for the other side which is the carb breather hose.
I isolated my airbox altogether and run a clamp-on K&N directly on the carb.
My airbox is now my tool storage box.

Removing the lid will require re-jetting. Since you have the Dynojet(K&N) needle and jets, you will need to put the needle clip on 3rd groove from top (stage3 instructions instead of stage1), and go up on the main jet one or two sizes. You will not get the performance without jetting.
Removal of snorkels is strictly cosmetic - no gain with or without.

Thanks HT, I havn't gotten the Jet kit yet, I ordered it on Monday and it still hasn't come in. I have installed my RWR CDI and my Graydon Pipe. The bike sounds and runs awesome untill I really hit the throtle then I get a slight popping noise. When I remove the lid the bike almost stalls.
I can't wait till the kit comes in and I get that bad boy tuned in. My tach should be here today.
