Gixer~
What size main jet do you have in your carb? What gearing and tire combo are you running? I imagine you just need to do some fine tuning on your carb and you should fairly easily pull away from a stock Raptor in any gear. When my DS was bone stock, I would lose 2 quad lengths to a piped raptor up to top speed. We would then stay dead even.

Try using a 15 or 14 tooth front gear and maybe a dyno jet kit. With mthis combo on my baja, I rarely see a craptor in front of me

I went though the sam probs when dragging my bro on his raptor. Until you swap out the cdi you'll have a very hard time in any drag with a raptor. The stock DS and a stock Raptor are very close in a drag race. Who ever gets the hole will get the win in 300 ft. You being piped and jeted.....doesn't mean anything without a cdi with a higher rev limit, or no rev limit at all.

14/42 gearing, Ron woods CDI and a 45mm carb, carb mount filter to go with it, slip on exhaust and your raptor buddies won't know what hit them.
Hows that for strait shooting?

3rd gear is where I spend the most time - strongest and most versatile. If your 3rd lacks, your carb needs tuned. Yeah, gearing changes and CDI's can make big differences, but 3rd still won't be what it should if its not tuned right, and that's the way it sounds.
2 up on the main is a mikuni 170, from the stock 165. That sounds lean compared to most. Before I opened up my airbox and got a CDI, I ran a 180 main. Of course, it also depends on the pipe flow too, they're not all the same.
