Default Air Fuel Mixture on Jet 250...

Can anyone tell me how to get more gas in the carb without rejetting? It is a tad lean, and stumbles ever so slightly in first gear...

Open up the fuel screw(the one sticking straight down out of the bottom of the carb) a turn. Probably shouldnt go past 3 turns out. And new(bigger) jets are what is needed. The engine is jetted lean from the factory to pass C.A.R.B. air quality standards. Its the same way if you buy a WR Yamaha or a CRX Honda. They all need bigger jets to run correctly.

Will this screw be inside the overflow outlet? THE ONLY screw on it that I can turn is the idle screw. Does raceway sell jets? Thinking one size bigger.

This screw is on the bottom and in the front of the carb. It sticks down in a recess in thr fuel bowl. Its right on top of the starter and very tough to get to with out a 90 degree screw driver. Raceway has 2 larger jets(pilot and main) that work very well in these quads. Also work well in the 200.

Ok, got a little more pep out of it. Now here is a question. Do they make performance parts for this engine? I have looked at this engine alot. It looks like a Yamaha to me, but I could be wrong.

I am going to have the head pulled, get a valve job, and port and polish it. What kind of difference should I notice? Also, I STILL cannot find the jets on the raceway website, and I will need these for the work that I am going to have done... thanks.

Im not sure about any performance parts for this engine. I used to think it was a Yamaha too but Chopper400 says its a early Honda. I wouldnt get to excited about getting too much power out of this engine. It started its life as a 175 from what I have heard and punched out to a 200 and then a 250. It runs extremely warm, between 230 and 280 degrees for the oil cooled... and between 280 and 320 degrees for the air cooled versions. I would think if it made too much power it might become a hand grenade.

I was not looking to "build" it. Really just gonna clean the head and valves up. That surely can't hurt it... Thought about trying to put a 250r motor in it!!! (Not sure the frame would take it...)

Im sure cleaning up the head and getting it to breath wont hurt a thing. I had a 250R motor and was thinking about putting it in the frame. (sold it on ebay) Im now convinced I could turn the quad into garbage in less than a hour with that motor in it. The frame and suspension, let alone a bunch of other components couldnt handle that much power.

I tell you what, I just got done riding it some more... For the money, this is the best thing going I believe. I can wheelie this bike with little to no effort without dumping the clutch. Just lean back, little tug, shoot the gas to it and she is up.

I am thinking about ordering a bigger front sprocket. First gear is gone in a millisecond, I think a 16 would be just about right. I am betting I could easily get 5 more mph out of it.
