im in the same bind in choosing tires. two of the friends that i ride with have upgraded their tires, one has 589's the other has gators. both tires dig to china in the sand both do very well on mud. i think the edge goes to the gators overall because of precise steering(my opinion only; im not bashing), but the 589's are lighter and ive already got an 800lb bike. im still waiting for the stock tires to ewar down before i decide which way to go.

both are great, i have gators on the back of my Kodiak (2WD) and dad has bear claws on his 300 honda and it can't follow me, no matter how hard he tries. My brother has 4, 26" titain 589's on his 450 and they work good too, but he said he wouldn't buy them again because they're getting chewed up too quick. My kodiak has no problem turning 26X12-12 gators, and where yours is a 2WD it makes it that much easier because the engine's power only has to turn 2 big tires instead of 4
oh ya dad's 300 is a 4X4!!

Ive got the 26 inch gators on my Kodiak and its unstoppable they get me thru everything. they are a little heavy but its really not that noticeable, the ride of the quad is totally different too its like a new machine more surefooted and less body roll , if you do go with them make sure you go with the 26'' ones because in the 25" size the tread depth is not as deep i think its like 3/4 in vs the 1-1/4 on the 26 inchers i think alot of the tires are like that check before you buy

ended up with the 589 mts. tried them out on sunday and they grip like no tomorrow!!!!!!!
found out that tire size does not really mean actual tire size. mine measure 26 1/4" with bike on ground and 27 3/4with the tire just skimming the ground and without the weight of the bike on the tire. cinda decieveing if you ask me . i was able to measure a set of 26"gators 25 1/4 with weight ane 26 3/8 in the air.
hope this helps
