cheapest way to widen rear axle
Whats the cheapest way too widen a rear axle on a (03) 400 ex. I only ride in the sand and my favorite thing too do is hill climb, and from what I got from every one is two widen my rear axle. I have researched wheel spacers and I have heard they are not very reliable. I'am just curious if there is a swap I can do or if there is a company out there makes a wider axle without charging 300.00 plus. I don't know mabey I'am just fishin but I thought I might ask.

I know that you can widen up to 2 inches (1 on each hub) with wheel spacers without bending your stock axle and hubs. You may have to buy longer wheel studs. You might want to check online for atv wheel spacer kits or something like that. Also don't use spacers if you like to jump.

ITP 9X9 rims are 1" wider than stock, and have a 1" greater offset. Right there you are +3" without any other mods. And, ITP 10X5 fronts will make you +2" wider in front. I do this even for desert cross-country. With Holeshot tires, this makes the bike ~48.5" wide in the rear. Wide enough for open desert, but still not so wide that you can't trail ride it.
If you want to go with spacers see www.sand-sport.com Nice aluminum units, that will make you +4", front and rear. Way better than DuraBlue.

Had EZ fit wheel spacers on my 400ex and Raptor and they worked great. They're an and on to the stock wheel studs and add 2.5 in to each side(rear) or 1.5 to fronts. Easy to remove too. Cost more than the others but you dont have to pound out the stock studs.

I run the same thing, going on 4 years with no problems. I am not a big jumper though.

Hey so wheel spacers are not bad than can you really notice there on there I mean are they apart of the hub or is there a big space between the hub and the wheel. I'am not a big jumper yet but I do fool around and practice my jumping, is there any chance of the spacer breaking I mainly like to hill climb in the sand. Oh and what was this buissness about pounding out the hub. Are the ones on Ebay good because there relativly cheap but they are the only wheel spacers I've seen.

wteceraserman- i think i know what wheel spacers you are talking about. i was looking at them online. they ran for about 53 bucks a pair. they did not reccomend the wider spacers for jumping or racing. I'm looking into doing that, but my fav. thing to do is jump.
