I didn't like the ramp that came with my deck so I had these custom made for it, worked better for a bigger quad than the smaller single ramp, my buddy loaded his kawi 750 on them a lot with no trouble, and I added puck board for loading sleds, just had to switch the ramps around depending if you had sleds or quads that day

For loading the key is to always stand up, seen many guys load sitting down and it looks scary, for unloading it works the best to get lined up and then just give er' down, trying to go real slow on the brake I have seen people go sideways.

The height scared me too when I first thought about loading on it, as I said before I drove this truck with this deck for 5 years averaging 150 miles of driving a day plus loading and unloading 1-3 times a day, never had a problem.

One time I seen a new guy, first day on a quad or loading and the crew chief told him to load the quads while he did paperwork in the driver seat, there were survey stakes piled up at the front of the deck and the newbie lost his balance while driving up the ramp and fell forward, there by pinning the throttle, good thing is was only a 350 or he would have been in rough shape, the quad climbed the stakes at the front of the deck and proceeded over the roof of the truck and down the windshield and rolled off the side of the hood, the crew chief got out all mad and I went over right away and put him in his place that he should never have had this guy load it in the first place.

That same newbie is now a crew chief and has never made that same mistake again

What I like about the deck, fuel mileage doesn't drop like it does with a trailer, no flat tires or wheel bearings to worry about, no license plate or lights to worry about and when staying at a hotel just back up to a wall and unless they are going to take your whole rig your toys are safe from theft, plus with the deck I could take my quads and boat with me at the same time.

wish I still had a truck with a deck, this is my toy rig now

I see those decks all the time, we even have one here at the resort that we use.

Honda can build anything they want if they choose.

ATVs account for less than 4% of their sales, not a huge priority if you ask me.

What would happen to Polaris if they quit selling ATVs?

yea- comparing polaris to honda is like comparing a local lumber chain to home depot.

Honda could at any time, conquer the atv scene- they definitely have the resources and the deep pockets to make it happen almost over night.

but it looks like honda is trying to get away from the "un eco earth friendly" atv market and focus more on cutting edge auto & electronics technology. Their dirtbikes were / are legendary.

hehe- I remember back in 10th grade (1988 ) I had a cr250- no one would ride it- everyone was affraid of it. I was probably 140 lbs and couldn't control that thing no matter what. I probably looked like a strand of spaghetti tangled around a car antenna at 80 mph riding that thing

Maybe I'm more dull than usual but I don't get that one???

I was referring to Beergut's penchant for riding quads out of control. Hence, "Not much has changed."

You're going to have to work on your routine a bit there, Specta. Either that, or keep your day job.
