Well, in a lot of shootouts that I read, the eiger won it, even over the rancher. I was about to buy a eiger 5 sp. It had more power than the rancher, had a good suspension, faster!, and 2wd/4wd which gave it a sportier feel. The 5sp eiger 4x4 and rancher es 4x4 were the same price. The only reason I did not get the eiger was 1, because of the bumper. I do a lot of riding that involves going down steep inclines, up a steep incline (\/), and was afraid of that big bumper hitting when trying to ride back up! The second reason I didnt get it was because the dealer was out of them, or else I would have a red eiger sitting in my drive way at this moment! Think of the eiger as a recon on steroids

I've spent the last couple hours reading different post about the Eiger. (Here and else where) There have been some good and some bad post. Now I'm having second and third thoughts about the Eiger. I don't like hearing anything negative about a product that I might pay $5000. for. The most important thing to me is "no headaches" after the purchase. (for a long time)

Before Honda raised their price for the 2004 Rancher 350, they should have thrown a select on it. I know they changed the plastic. They should have kept the old plastic and put on select. They put it on the Foreman 450.

I like my friends eiger but it will not back up in a mud hole, or pull people very good in reverse. It is kind if hard to back up steeper inclines and hills too, my friends eiger only has 26" tires and he said its been like that since new, even with the stockers it was a bit high geared in reverse. Other than that I like the eiger, the seem to be quite a bike, I have never seen the 400 AT but it looks to have the same chassis as the 350 but with the auto trans and traxlok. It may have a bit more power than the 350 too.
