Default Transmission Problem

The older 300EX's had the same transmissions as the 250X's. I recently had a problem with 3rd gear slipping in and out of gear similar as to what you describe. It will only get worse then what it is right now. What you need to do is switch your 2nd 3rd and 4th gears on the countershaft with the newer 300EX ones. The new 3rd gear has 4 dogs on it insead of 3 and the gears only have 4 holes in them for the dogs to engauge in instead of the 6 that the old gears have. The cost for everything you're looking at about $230 parts and shipping if you order it from service honda. I'd also look at your oil pump and if the inside is pitted change that too. When I lost 3rd gear the metal shavings toasted my oil pump as well. Also when you put the transmission back together you need to eliminate one washer. This will make the dogs slide farther into 3rd gear so it wont slip out of gear. You need to go from the left case half in on the countershaft washer, gear, washer, sliding gear, gear washer instead of washer, gear, washer on the last part.

Default Transmission Problem

I don't really have that cash to put on it. I just want to ride it until winter, then fix it and make it nice then sell it. After that, saving saving saving and buying and R

Will it survive til winter ? Just have to not powershift after all
