Rancher 424
Finished installing mine last night and took it for a quick spin. I was a little hesitant with some folks saying steering wasn't helped that much. I have a couple lightweight kids and wife and driving this was a slight chore with the torque steering of the full time 4x4. Well my first quick turn on cement said otherwise. It does make a huge difference in steering and driving.
Well worth it IMO.

Hard to say "exactly" how long it took. During the week I only spend a limited amount of time in the garage so I can spend time with my wife and kids. Plus while I was doing this I was also changinf out the plastic from orange to green. So some time was spent pulling off the racks, plastic, etc.
I'd say if your half way handy you can do it in under 2 hours. Minus the beer breaks 90 minutes. no real surprises on mine, I did have some trouble pushing the front diff far enough forward to slide the shaft in. Working by myself I had to hold that, then grab the 424 and compress the spring and engauge the gears on the engine side. Another person and it would have gone smoother. Only other sort of time consuming thing is mounting the bracket. I put it high up on the right side. Sort of on the collar of the plastic where the handlebars are. Perfect location but it's hard to get at the bolts. Plus I had to remove part of the front rack again to run the cable.
The instructions are very clear and easy to understand. The pictures are not good quality but better than nothing.
I have a few pics that I might put up on the Rancher web site, i'll post if I do. Now I have to update those pictures to the new green Rancher. Anybody interested in orange plastic?

Dunno, going price is about 75-100 bucks on ebay. About what I paid for mine. But on ebay the term "normal wear" can be subjective. In the attached pics of where I mounted the cable the plastic actually doesn't look that good. I had just coated it with a plastic shine stuff (like armor all for plastic). Bad thing is green is the worse color for scratches because it's dark. Orange or yellow is actually the best because of the light color. If your interested let me know. Mine has some scratches, one small crack on the right rear upper grommet hole. Decals are so-so. We can also talk about a swap if you want. Shipping is the wildcard. Shop I bought mine from charged $20. Other folks on Ebay want $50. Mine were stuck together with several wraps of clear stretch wrap...each piece separated by some cardboard, no problems with that.
Here are some pics of where I mounted the 424 lever...you'll have to cut and paste the URL. I have more pics of the plastic and green rancher I'll post to the website tomorrow.

swap could be possible if u needed an extra set of green plastic, mine has no cracks at all only would have 2 drill holes from the 424 lever, mine is in the same place only on the left side, that way if im screwing around in mud and i start getting stuck, i can switch it right into 4x4 without taking my hand of the throttle
i'll let u know about the plastic, im extremely busy lately, and school is starting again
