i would consider polaris over articcat but hondas are great too. i wouldnt buy anyhting other then polaris or honda 2 totally different machines both a great for what u use them for. sorry i know i have a suzuki but thats old. my first quad

 

RubiRanch, You post that you have 7 friends who never had a problem at all, next post says Honda is junk and you'll never buy one again. HUH??? I certainly understand your frustration, but this is the first post I have seen that mentions a toasted clutch so it doesn't appear to be a common problem and maybe Honda will address it since it is so uncommon. Unfortunately, this rare event happened to your quad, good luck getting the repair and let us know how Honda responds.

 

Well, Frustration breeds anger !!! Honda did go good for the clutch and I have to pick up the labor cost. Fair deal. I'll see if any more troubles occur,if so, then there will be another Rubicon for sale. My wife loves her Rancher, no problems with that. If pmore problems do arise I'm going to look into an AC 650. Any comments?

 

not to bash arctic car or anything but u will have alot more problems with the cat then with any honda. cats seem to have weak axles and weak clutches/belt problems ask around a little more before you get rid of your honda.

 

go to the AC forum and read about all the trouble there having with the cats.
burnt belts, limp mode, broken axels.
and that i know form my own cat, 4 broken axels.
plastic bushings in the front end.( my front and wore out in 1800 miles and took 3 balljoints and one "A" arm with it.all because of plastic bushings.)
(im talking about the "A" arm and shock bushings.where the mounting bolts go through.)
and you cant go slow with the belt drives or you can smell the belt burning.
my freind and i were out riding when i had my cat.
and we got cought by the tide comming in and we had to winch ourselfs up this steep hill we took mine up first and i put it in low range and started to reel in the winch, i gave it a bit of gas so the winch wasent doing all the work, i had no problems with getting mine up the hill.
when it was my freinds turn he did the same thing i did but his belt was slipping all the way up the hill.
and man did it ever stink.
and he has the spring mod and a few other things done to his.
i wasent impressed with the burning smell.
and needless to say he wasent eather.
belts are ok if you dont do alot of mud and water riding.
but if you do then stay away from the belts.
stick with the honda that my opinion.
