They really slapped the face of Honda

Its pretty easy to spot the rookies in here.
TRY CLEANING YOUR HONDA AND TAKING CARE OF IT AFTER YOU RIDE IT AND YOU'LL STILL HAVE BRAKES..
Son,NOBODY takes better care of their ATVs than me,so go play your little childish 'wash me' and I'll take care of you game, somewhere else..
Its just no secret to anybody that plays in the serious mud with their ATVs that DRUM brakes WILL leak..They may not leak TODAY,[it took allmost a yr on the Rincon]but one thing is certain, they WILL eventually leak in water/debree..And WHEN they do,thats just the BEGINNING of YOUR fun..
Once leakage starts, than you get to pull every drum, clean all the contaminated brake parts, blow dry the same parts, apply watrerproof grease to the drum seals,re-adjust the brake shoes, and re-assemble..And if you FORGET to do this cleaning on a very COLD night, the water/debree will just line the inside of your brake drum and FREEZE everything so you cant even use the brakes.
Does'nt that sound like fun!

OLEDAN,
I did own a Honda Rincon for a little over two years[and other Honda's before this]..I do like Honda's,in fact,I like most ATVs regardless of brand..
Now because I dont OWN a Honda, you proclaim that I have no right to enter into a conversation with others in the Honda Forum??
When you ride your 2004 Ruby,am I to beleive that you will only ride with those that OWN a Honda?

I have 2 more cents to add.
No company can please all of the people all of the time, right?
I don't know the statistics involved - but the companies most likely pick the widest range of audience they can please in each category (sport / utility / racing) - and build a vehicle to fit that category.
In the case of the last 10-15 years - they have just been doing it wrong.
(in my opinion - the following is just my opinion after reading all 7 pages of this thread))
The sport riders want more features and more power.
The utility riders want better features (brakes, drivetrain) - but the feature list appears OK.
The serious racers want fewer features, better suspension, lighter frame and more power.
For the rest -> Thats what the current honda's are made for.
Personally - I think my next honda will be a CR250r.
I'll probably never buy another honda ATV until they come out w/ a high performance 2 stroke ATV.

I own 5 Polaris atvs and love them, but, if you use a Honda ute for a ute, you can't beat them. I agree that their brakes suck and they don't have the best ride or the most up to date engines.
My dad bought a 250 fourtrax in 85 and used it like a bulldozer, tractor and a horse, overhauled it 2 times and couldn't tear the thing up. He has a 300 now and doesn't like it as well as he did the 250. but it is just as strong.
You can take a Manual shift Honda and put it up next to ANY other quad (ute model) and use and abuse it doing the exact same chores and the Honda will outlive them all. Hands down

Bill, nice to see your in fine form. But I'm staying out. Mostly, my 99 KQ has more features than my Rancher that's 3 years newer. On and my KQ has been outdated since the mid 90's. Except for the IRS and IFS and a real locker.
Oh and to the guy on page 1...Thomas Crapper invented the modern toilet. The romans had a hole in the ground with running water through it. And guns have come a long way since the late 1800;s. Try one of those at a 1000 yard range.
