Man I am slipping today. Perhaps my posting prowess is slipping away. I'll just have to re-double my efforts.

I agree with this statement if your talking about traditional 2 strokes - but what about the "next generation" ones that will be more "environmentally friendly" - how much increased cost is there to meet the 2006 standards and still maintain HP?

That's true. But traditional 2-strokes never made an impact in autos in the past either. Seems like we loop around technology until it becomes economical. Today's technology is worth pennies tomorrow. We may see it again. Who knows? For example, fuel injection has been around for 50+ years but didn't become affordable until the late 80's or so?
I didn't go back and read what started this, was it the hybrid engine? Basically a 2-stroke that fired every other time? Seems like it might have had an oil splash system too. No typical 4-stroke "valve" restrictions. Interesting stuff.

Well anyone could've forseen a KFX 250 - duh - Kawasaki already offers Suzuki's Z400, as well as the smaller 50cc & 80cc youth quads; so why not their 250?
that would be pretty cool, i dont like the kawis front hood on the 400, but the kawi z250 would be nice!! doesnt kawi already have the mojave or something?

It has potential from a performance point of view. BUT, the problem with 2-strokes is there is no dedicated lubrication system. They wear out quicker than 4-strokes. Not a big deal on recreational vehicles, but on a daily driver this would pose some problems in my mind.
Bumper to bumper 6 month 6,000 mile warranty?

Clicky
Strip the outboard secton of it away and I'll bet it still costs you around 8k for 200 hp. How much does it costs for a GM 350 crate engine again? Yeah about 2500 bucks for 330 HP.
