Does anyone remember the sound of the flying car on the Jetsons cartoon? It's kind of a warbling chirping thing. Subtle. That's the sound my Rancher's drivetrain makes in 5th gear only. Anyone want to guess what it might be?

It was stupid except for the "Your Fired!" part. I'm waiting for my shop manual so I can have a peek into the gearcase. I'd seen others who have a whine in 5th, but this is a distinct Jetsons sound.

 

Sounds like it might be a bad "Cogswell Cog".... If I was you, I would replace it with a "Spacely Sprocket"[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

is the sound kinda whiney? My 2004 rancher made a noise like that in 5th gear only, and so does my 2005, same thing, a whiny noise when in 5th gear only. completely normal. go out and enjoy it.
