I know this post is old, but every bit of advice in it just doesn't address the actual problem. I want to set it straight in case someone else reads this and thinks the PJ carbs are bad. I have had a couple CR bikes with the PJ carb and the idle circuit was great.
If you can't figure out why your idle doesnt change when you twist the choke ****... it's because you have to have the choke activated before you twist it to adjust idle.
Pull up on the choke lever, then twist it to adjust idle, push down when done. There is nothing mystical about the idle circuit and it works great, you just have to know how to adjust it.
I have a pwk now on my kx and it won't idle at all. it's either too high or too low and no real happy medium with the throttle slide style idle screw. I wish I had the simple effective PJ idle circuit on this carb.
