For $1500 there is really one choice way above the rest. Yamaha Blaster. Especially with your size although 5-11 is pushing it. Hey, I'm the same height and drive mine quite a bit. Any way, good sport quad with good speed, handling, and easy to ride, lots of fun. You can ride them in most any type of conditions too. I take mine into the Alleganies, assuming you are taking yours into mountainous areas too. There are a lot of them out there and hop-up parts are all over for them. Most any other quads are going to be a lot more than $1500 too. See if you can get the later models with hydraulic disc brakes. Much better than the older cable drums. I think that's a 2003 and newer, so it may cost you a few hundred more, but well worth it. Newer body style too

Here's an example off eBay

200CC 2 stroke is like 300cc 4 stroke so it will move you around well. Don't forget the ATV is only 325lbs. That's pretty light and why it moves well. Works for your friend too. I live only 90 miles from Toronto, same type of area, this quads works well on all terrain. Actually this is a sport quad, more than a hard core mountain climber, but it will do it

I would go with the blaster bud becuase its cheaper then most and its really reliable quad for the prices they go for. The blaster will take you about 60mph maybe more maybe less, but approximatly 60mph... thats not bad for a smaller quad. hope this helps.
