So I have a 2001 Honda 300ex that I am looking to sell however I can not get the damn thing to start... Heres what it does: If I pull it behind another quad and start it that way it will start up and run, and once it is hot you can start it back up again. However when it has been sitting for more than 10 minutes or a month whatever whatever it will not start cold.... I cleaned the carb, installed new plug, new coil, and checked the valve clearances everythign seems to be good. I just want to get rid of this quad and put the money in to my 450r's

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Check your valve clearance.

 

It almost sounds like you have a week battery. it sounds like once you get it started it will start to charge the quad enough that it will turn the motor over fast enough to start it. check the water level in the battery, or charge/replace. does the quad start when you jump it like you do when a car battery is dead?

 

I will have to try and jump it using the battery from my car... I didnt think of that however I did try another battery, it may have been just as dead... I Will try that but pkeep the suggestions comming....
