Default prairie 360 vs. rancher 420

Im looking at an 07 of either. I was set on a prairie and then saw that the rancher was new and improved so to speak. Its no longer a 350 and now 420 efi. Now has in and out 4x4. Prices are close what would you do.
My girl friend said she doesnt mind semi auto and wants camo. She also said that she like the feel of the rancher.

I have noticed that the prairie has more seat for riding two and has the dif lock. What will i lose with out that... I know just three wheels will spin in 4x4. Im looking for both sides of this (posted in kawi fourm)
Thanks Jordan

Oh man I wouldn't buy a 360, the way they have there belt drive set up is tied into the 4x4, if the belt gets too loose it trips a switch on the cover and guess what, 4x4 doesn't work and it will only go like 10mph.
The 4x4 won't engage in revrse, laking in power.

The Honda 420 is pretty good, haven't been out engouh to really have any major problems. If you have a Yamaha dealer or suzkui dealer. Go check out yamaha's 450 grizzly has all what you want in both machines and IRS. The 450 King Quad is the same as the yamaha and is EFI.

its not 3 wheel drive it is a tourque sensing differential. and if you tap the front brakes you can get all 4 to spin any time you want. or you can buy a detriot gearless locker! unless you are doing SERIOUS mudding the locker/ irs means nothing!! on the other hand if you live in the mud i would want the irs/ locker!

For the suzuki and yamaha you are getting a little high in price. I would like to stay with in the MSRP of $5,300. I was looking at used in the $3300 range so i am stretching it as it is. Im not going to be doing hard core but i dont want to be disappointed either. No ponds just creeks. Small mud strips. If i wanted a wave runner id get one .

Well hey if your talked used for around 3000 then go buy a used 350 rancher or a 400/450 yamaha kodika (same as the grizzly's of 07)

I just bought the 420. I love it. Went from IRS to the fixed rear end and am not dissapointed. It's a bit stiffer but not as much as what I would have expected. I looked at the Yam 450 and the Suz King Quad. Both nice machines, but not worth the extra $, unless you feel you have to have the IRS and the locker. For the money, the 420 is the best all around sporty utility out there.

Ive got a 07 prairie 360, and LOVE IT!! kinda slow, tops out bout 45-50, but awesome in the mud. . .as far as the differential lock, it has proved its weight in gold for me, had a 500 suzuki 4x4 get stuck in front of me, as i was getting stuck, pulled the differential lock, and passed the suzuki, and then went back and pulled him out. i wouldnt have another atv without the diff lock.

I have the Rancher AT 400 and love it. The 420 is supposed to smoke the 400 AT that I have. I don't know much about the Prairie 360, but I am not a fan of belt drive. The Traxloc on my Honda works great. I have been through some tough terrain and mud and HAVE NEVER had it 3 wheel drive on me. Not to say that it will never happen, but I have 500 hrs on my Rancher AT and it has been really dependable and got me through some tough situations.

Never had a need for a locker. Tires are more important.
I really luv the way people say Honda is 3wd. What a joke. I will dig 4 holes with my tires for anyone that wants to see.
And, a 360 Prairie will not come close to the 420 Honda. Just take a look at the latest QUAD magazine to see the test.
