2001 Rancher ES in shop again
When my rancher gets out of the shop it will be for sale, this is the third time the ES stops working. First time $240, second time $250 and now for the third time $468, will change the angle sensor and shift motor this time.
I will never buy another ES again, our 4-wheeler stayed in a enclosed garage never seen the rain, well maintained, it is just a lemon...

...not a lemon, just an overall bad design that isn't worthy of Honda's typical high quality. Honda needs to be so embarassed at this fiasco, that they either need to perfect the design or drop the thing altogether....and they need to stand behind all the owners who are having trouble.

2001 Rancher ES in shop again
Mine is almost 8 years old now and the ES and not so much as had a hiccup. I ride with several others that have ES on their machines and no one has had any troubles out of theirs. I think that whatever quad that I get next, I am going to insist on ES. I am way to spoiled now to go back to anything else.

You think that manual trannys never fail? At least my ES has a shift lever that I can put on the shaft should I ever need it, which I doubt.
BTW, I was on a ride not long ago where someone's shift lever broke off. A vicegrip got them back to their truck, but just saying that having a toe shifter sure dont mean that you never going to have problems.
