Default 08 Rancher 420 ES 4x4 Back-Up Recoil Starter

Hey All,

Driving an 08 Rancher 4x4 ES that came stock WITHOUT a back-up recoil starter. Just wondering if the recoil can be purchased and added to my machine now? I assume the ES wouldn't work if I had no battery power, however, I could at least get the machine running. Once started, I could manually put it into one gear to at least limp it home should I ever get stuck in the woods. Any thoughts? I appreciate the help once again.

You can install the optional recoil starter anytime you like ... Our shop install them on all the 420's we sold .. You could install it yourself in a couple of hours...

OK. But what is the best way to get the bolt out of the crankshaft. The service manual only shows removing it when the rear cover is off.

Another option if you don't ride alone ,is another ATV could bump start the ATV since it is a manual tranny. Once the ATV is started I imagine the Magneto or Stator would run the ES normally even with a dead battery.
