I just bought a 2000 400ex. This is my first one and i think the rear shock might be bad or just need recharged. Does anyone know how to recharge them. Also what are stock shocks filled with air, oil, gas???

 

What makes you think it needs a recharge or that it's bad?

Have you tried adjusting the lock ring?

 

I think it is bad because the rear end bounces up and down really easy just by pushing on it with your hand. It feels like the spring is the only thing doing any work and the shock is doing nothing. When riding on a trail i am bouncing up and down on the seat after hitting a bump and i know it should not be like this the shock is giving no support.
