Default I can't start my quad

I just got back from a trip, but I left my quad key at the campsite. It's a 2002 honda recon 250cc , and.we pushed it out of the trailer, and he's gone. I went inside to eat and I came back out and realized i lost it. I have no means to start it and it's supposed to rain tonight. I have to get it to the shed but it's uphill and I can't push the bike up it I need to know how I can turn the key slot without completely destroying it. I can't pull the ignition. How can I start the bike. Please help soon. I don't want to leave by the road even if it wasn't going to rain.

I leave mine in the rain on purpose in the hopes it will get washed.

Anyways you do not want the screw up you wiring harness, The best thing is to buy a new ignition with a key, they are cheap off EBAY. My friend did it with a 350 Yamaha Bruin. Tow/push it off the road with a car or something.

I once left my key at home for my quad. I loaded it in the back of my truck, drove over an hour to go ride and realized when I got there I didn't have my key. After that, I put it on the same keychain as the key to my truck. So anytime I hauled my quad anywhere I would always have it. Its much harder to lose a keychain with several keys on it versus just one small atv key. It never happened again.

You have a few choices. Put it in neutral and move it with a different machine, or cover it and lock it out to a tree or something. Otherwise, you can cut the ignition wires and splice them back together. Not the most elegant solution that one.

"you can cut the ignition wires and splice them back together." Only if you know which wires to join, otherwise your CDI could be toast. A fortnight old thread anyway, he will have moved it by now.
