Hello. I just picked up a used 96 300EX in a package deal and it has a kickstart. No button for electric start. I thought these were all electric starts?
Am I wrong?

I thought when they went from the 250x to 300 ex they were all electric start. That should be what the e In ex stands for. Kinda like the trx450, 04/05 were kick start 06 they added es to the name for the electric start. Somebody probably changed it to kickstart or you have an older 250x motor which is same bore as 300 ex with shorter stroke and kickstart. Somewhere on motor it’ll say 246cc or 282cc to identify which.

Thank you. Great information. I’ll check around on the motor tomorrow and see what it says. The vin on the frame says it’s a 300EX. But even the plastics have a spot where the the kickstart rests.
Just kind of odd. Lol.

They may have used the rear plastic from a 250x it has the kickstart spot in plastic . Not sure if you could buy 300ex aftermarket plastic with with kickstart groove in it.
