inner clutch hub on trx250r, help!

how can I hold the inner clutch hub still while i remove the nut that holds it on?thanks

I just got it off with a impact wrench!

Yea, I guess you can do that too!!


I was gonna suggest putting the bike in 6th, (least amount of power getting through to the wheels) and use a bar or long wrench through one of the rear sprocket openings and wedge the two ends of the bar agains the axle and the swingarm. The rear axle cannot turn, the clutch cannot turn, and the bolt comes off. Did this on my 350X a few weeks ago and worked like a charm.

What you need to do is to bolt two old friction plates to two old steels. Stagger them just like they were installed in the clutch. Then you can very easily put a copper washer in the counterbalancer gears and properly remove the nut, and then torque it when you reassemble the clutch.

Motion Pro makes a special tool that will hold the hub while you loosen/tighten the nut. I have one and it works great.
