28" Vampires
#1
This is also posted under "Tire & Drivetrain Modifications" below--so I know it is a repost. Anyway-Interco is coming out in early December with a 28 x 10.00 x 12 tire that is slighty re-designed with a full 2" deep lug. They say it will weigh 41-41 pounds (by itself). And, they believe a lift kit, like from Highlifter, will be a necessity. No pics are available, but I will post one asap. I have vampires now and am very happy with them. I fully understand that they are not for everyone and am not telling everyone that they must be had by one and all. I am not wanting to get any debates about what is better or best. I am just posting some information that may be of interest to some on the forum.

I'm glad to hear that Interco is making some 28x10x12's. Now I get get some front tires to match the heighth of my rear 27x12x12's. If you measure any of Interco's skinnier tires such as the 9.5-10" range you will notice they are an inch shorter than what they are supposed to be. I have some 27x10x12's that only measure 26" tall and I also have some 25x9.5x11's that only measure 24" tall. It's kind of weird because my 27x12x12's are a true 27" and my 26x12x11's are a true 26" tall (both having 5 psi). Either of these tires will grow about 2" taller with 45psi, but the ride is awful. My Polaris buddies with their plush suspension run them this way and their tires measure right under 29" tall. They are some beastly looking machines. Thanks for the info TxDoc.

I talked to jeff at highlifter. He said that they tested the 28'' vampires on the 500 polaris. He said that the bike could barely turn them without the high performance kit. And he said it still had strain with the kit. Maybe they are just too big.
