For you guys that have switched to aluminum rims, how ahave they held up to trail abuse? I have 27" 6ply Blackwaters mounted on my stock steel rims and was thinking of upgrading to nicer aluminum rims to get back some unsprung weight. I have a few dents in my rims now, but I can't remember if they were there before or after the new tires were installed. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars and quickly turn them into pancakes!!

I think on a Ute with lots of rubber you should be alright just as long as you don't do too much rim crunching, rock crawling. On a sport machine with low-profile tires unless you have rings they don't last too long.

Aluminum rims will do just fine on your ute quad. They come standard with my Rubicon and they have stood the test of durability. Will also reduce the unsprung weight.

It all depends what kind they are and how they are made.
