clutch springs
I took my 2000 400EX in for a top end and the mechanic told me I had an aftermarket clutch. I have since had a chance to check the spring tension on 3 other stock 400EX's and the clutch springs on the stock bikes are much less stiff. My quad has had White Bro exhaust K+N air filter and jetting done to it. So, Im assuming that the aftermarket clutch was done to beef up the clutch. I have looked at the exploded view of how this clutch package is set up and Im wondering if it is possible to put different clutch springs that arent as stiff in the clutch or what my other options may be to make pulling in the clutch lever not as much work. BTW, I checked the cable and it isnt sticking at all. I also checked the clutch lever at the case and it was fairly hard to turn using a channel lock plier.

clutch springs
4 of my riding buddies have got them. They put them on and took a 36 hour trip to glamis. 3 out of the 4 magura cluthes broke. When they are working, they do work good. Although my stock clutch lever with cable pulls easier right now, it will eventually get harder. Oil it or pay $12 for a new one. Wish I could give the maguras a good review because a friend of mine is a salesman for magura.

You could check with the mfg of the clutch, it may say or have a symbol on it to indicate who makes it. Simple things can help too. Like keeping the clutch pivot bolt on the lever\perch well lubed. I have seen some so sticky at that location that they actually turned the pivot bolt instead of pivoting on it!
