Gun lubes
#1
Ok....I want to know from yall on what you use for gun lube. Now, I am not talking about your typical all purpose lube. WD40 is not a lubricant. I want to know what does everyone use. I have checked into several different ones but need more input. I have used BreakFree, Triflow and Remeningtons Teflon spray. Anyone use Eezox or Militec1(hope I am spelling these right). Let me know what you have used and what works best for you. Thanks

I've been a gunner for better than 50 years now and hope I've learned a thing or two. I keep Rig and STOS grease in my kit - and on occasion use a little bit. Break Free and Hoppes Gun Oil are my mainstay lubricants and I use WD-40 as a solvent (which is what WD-40 really is).

I generally use Remington products at home and "in the field" I use CLP Break Free. I've been using Rem-Oil for the longest time now. When I am going on a trip all I take is CLP Break Free. I've been pretty happy with all of the Remington products. I use their bore cleaners and I also use their action cleaner which I've found really works well.
If I had to choose just one I would go with the Break Free. It does about everything and does it well. I don't use WD-40 on anything firearms related. I bought a used Remington rifle which the owner said he used WD-40 on exclusively. It was a gummy mess I had to detail strip the thing and soak and scrub all the parts with a toothbrush to clean out all the gummy black and gray goo.

I shoot a lot, and the best gun lube that I have found for the action and trigger assembly on bolt guns is tetra lube. It makes the action feel like it's on bearings. The reason is it has a super high galling pressure.

I will have to check out some of that stuf. In the past I have always used the Browning oil with no problems.

Got my free sample of Militec. Had some pretty interesting literature with it. I will clean my pistols real good and try it. It says that it is a 2 step process. It claims to "treat the metal"....thats why it claims that dust and sand wont stick to it. It says that it is what the military uses in the desert. I will try to post on it later.
