Default Dalton Face Plate & DPK Weights

WOW!
With my new V-Force clutches and belt I added the billet aluminum plate($150) and 58 grm. weights($167w/spring) with the plain white stripe spring. It really pulls much harder than before espically in the middle to top. This weekend I will be able to see what I gained in mph. My development road is to short! I didn't want to stop riding it tonight, it just keeps pulling up through the RPM's! The front end likes to come up at higher speed now too.
They gave me some rivets that you add to the weights to adjust. I have the blue spring also and will try that later. For know It works great!

The quality is top notch on all the stuff. The face plate is 330 grms. compaired to 350 grms. stock V-Force. Dale at Dalton is the one to talk about the clutchin. He is heck of a nice guy too!

I know there are other guys out there that have these parts, lets hear want you think!

Can I borrow yours for a few days! LOL!!!! I would like to try this stuff too but I don't even have mine together yet! The guy who is doing my machine work had to leave town but he said he may have it done for me tomorrow! Let me know just how much this stuff improves what you have done?

I guess this is the overdrive plate. I have their catalog and it doesn't say anything about added top end. It says it offers more strength, lighter weight and better cooling.

The only way it adds mph is if you have the horsepower to get it there.

The first person I thought of was you Prairiewrench. You have the same clutches and it will help out greatly over stock. After Sunday I will let you know how many more mph and what I hit the rev limiter at.

Looks like I need to find more money,, I'm flat azz broke right now with all the money I've shucked out to get my 700P ready for the 12 hours race and all the extras to go along with it such as a 60 dollar gas can and so on! I will be very interested to find out how much difference these make tho, I may have to sell something else to get um!

The face plate is machined 0.040 inchs so the moveable sheave is moved in 0.040 inchs this allows the belt to move up the combined sheaves by 0.100 inchs from normal produceing more top end plus some reduction in rotational mass. You should gain another 7 - 10mph with this plate/spring combination if you have the ponys to push the belt up further on the primary. Dale understands what is needed to get the most out of our clutch system.

Did you have your clutch machined prior to the Dalton Face Plate, just asking?

I have a set of the weights which I am testing out on my P700. I do not have the faceplate though.

I have modded my stock faceplate slightly, so far; and I may alter it further once I do more testing.

I will post results as I get them completed over the next few weeks hopefully.

I'll be interested in the results of others as well.

Here are some pics of the weights and rivets. I have the Dalton weight (black) next to a stock weight for comparison.

The only way a person can get any definate results with respect to top end is to either machine the sheaves, or face plate, or combination of both. There is enough space between the front sheaves to allow for an adapted face plate. Weight reducing on the clutch will allow for more fine tuning of the clutch with weight rivets and springs. Everything works hand in hand I like to use different weights with the respective springs I find it just works better. The greatest thing is you can vary your clutch for the type of riding you wish. A light spring for general messing around the trails or a stiffer spring for drag racing your buddy or the local race track. The way I machine my clutch I can get another 15 mph out the quad depending on your modds it is possible.

Is this weight and faceplate designed for the V-Force only??? Will they work well on the Prairie 700? I already have the plain/white spring, so all I would need is the weight's and faceplate right??? don't want to waste the money if it wont work well on my Prairie though.........

Stakk,

Helix is the one to ask. But, let me try and answer it.

The plate was designed for the V which has no KEBC. There are 3 face plates for the Prairie. One is used depending on the depth of the bearing in relation to the KEBC control arm. So, I am skeptical that the Dalton plate would work on the P700 along with the KEBC. If you have no need for the KEBC then it won't matter.

However, we can have our stock faceplate milled to remove material in the same fashion as the Dalton. I don't know how much that costs yet. But, I aim to find out.

For those not wanting to mess with their faceplate/KEBC then the Dalton faceplate is your best bet. I see this as beneficial for those times when the KEBC is not needed; like dragging. It doesn't take long to pull the weights and reassemble with the new faceplate.

However, whether the plate, and weights, will even help the P700 is what we are interested in at this point.
