Good points Tampavee. Are you using a roller fairlead? The standard cast iron one would be rough on the cable as it rubs on the way in and out. The roller one has no friction. Might be something to consider.

I also found that a spray of silicone spray helps the snow to slide off better. Be sure that the blade is cold before plowing so snow and ice will not freeze to it

I'll watch the battery for running low. Thanks for the heads up.

I am using the roller fairlead but the cable still gets wornout in same spot then breaks after good storm . So now I just plan ahead and start fresh . I once had cable break and there was so much snow 22 inches that it took me 1 1/2 hr to ride one block with blade down .

I have had my 700 for about 2 months now, and love it. The only prob has been the lack of stiffness up front. When hard braking, the nose dives right down, not good if I want to stay in my seat, LOL. So I'm looking at the Progressives. About the winch cable and plowing, has anyone talked to warn about the wear and breakage problem? If I am plowing this winter and the cable snaps, I'm going to be very unhappy. I'm willing to install the roller fairlead if y'all think it will help save the cable, but it sounds like it hasn't made any difference. Also, those who have had probs with breakage, which winch are you using? I have the 2.5 I believe. I bought the quad with both the Warn winch and the Warn plow, so if there is some sort of problem it will be a Warn problem and they won't be able to blame me for using an in-appropriate plow. So I'm just curious to hear your opinions on this situation. If anyone has any tips or hints about plowing with the 700, please send them my way, this will be my first winter with the 700.

you might want to ask about this new rope they have for winchs. Its suppose to be stronger and less wear problems. Im not sure if warn makes it or who but im going to check into it because I will be plowing alot this winter with my p700. Ask your dealer about this rope.
