Hando 400EX carb on Lakota Sport
#1
I read a post on another board about how well the Stock Honda 400ex carb worked on a Mojave and im starting to think if it works well on the 250 it should work just as well or better on my 300. Has anyone tried this? I can get the carb new for under $100 so unless theres a real good reason not to I plan to try it soon.
For those who dont know the stock carb (i believe) is 1.5mm larger than a stock mojave carb and has an accelerator pump. I imagine that makes the carb 35.5mm but im not sure.

i've heard of placing a mojave carb on a lakota but i'm not sure about the 400ex carb. I actually purchased the mojave carb on ebay, but haven't gotten around to it. I read, also on the forum, that the swap will give the lakota more of a boost.

I think the 400EX carb would be too big unless you have significant engine mods. However, the 300EX carb. may be the way to go. You will no longer have a bar mounted choke lever, but I think it would work ok. I believe it has an accel. pump, like the 400EX's. Jetting? Beats me.
Good luck and let us know what you come up with!

.... That's right, the 400ex carb would be too large, however this is a popular Mojave mod because it is only 1.5mm larger than the 'jave 's 34mmunit and it has an accelerator pump. An excellent alternative, however would be a carb off a 300ex. It is 32mm just as the Lakota's and has the coveted accelerator pump.
